Energy security and environmental safety problems have been playing now an increasingly urgent and important role all over the world.
The education system of different levels plays an important role in addressing the above problems.
Therefore in 1996 the Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU) established the UNESCO Chair on Energy Conservation and Renewable Energies within the UNITWIN/ UNESCO Chairs Programme.
UNESCO and its regional structures (the Offices inVeniceandMoscow), Commission of theRepublicofBelarusfor UNESCO, Belarus Embassy toFranceguided and supported the UNESCO Chair at BNTU in its evolution and performance.
